Full Stack Developer Intern – AI

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer Intern with a strong interest in Artificial Intelligence who is excited about building real-world products and learning how AI can be applied to solve practical recruitment problems.

You will work closely with our technology and product team in Surat, contributing to the development of Artha's recruitment platform. You will work across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and AI-powered features, while gaining hands-on experience with production systems and modern AI technologies.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, experimenting, debugging, and learning and wants to develop strong full-stack engineering fundamentals while exploring AI/LLM technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Develop and maintain frontend and backend features for the Artha platform.

• Build responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React and Next.js.

• Develop backend services and REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.

• Connect frontend applications with backend APIs and services.

• Work with databases and application data.

• Build reusable components, services, utilities, and modules.

• Debug and resolve application issues across frontend and backend.

• Work on features related to job posting, candidate profiles, applications, dashboards, and recruitment workflows.

Backend & API Development

• Develop and integrate REST APIs.

• Work with request validation, error handling, authentication, and authorization.

• Integrate third-party APIs and external services.

• Understand API request/response flows and data transformations.

• Work with asynchronous operations and background processes where required.

• Learn how to design APIs that are reliable, maintainable, and easy to integrate.

Database & Data Engineering

• Work with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

• Create and maintain data models and database operations.

• Write and optimize basic queries and data-access logic.

• Understand relationships between application data and business workflows.

• Work with data generated from jobs, candidates, applications, and recruitment activities.

• Learn how to handle data consistency, validation, and duplicate records.

AI & LLM Engineering

• Integrate LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or similar services into product features.

• Build and experiment with AI-powered recruitment functionality.

• Explore AI-based approaches for:

  • Candidate-job matching

  • Resume analysis

  • Skill extraction

  • Candidate recommendations

  • Semantic search

  • Job and candidate understanding

• Work with concepts such as embeddings, vector search, semantic similarity, and RAG.

• Experiment with different models, prompts, and approaches to improve AI-generated results.

• Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, relevance, consistency, and reliability.

• Understand the limitations of LLM-based systems and identify ways to improve their results.

• Work with AI services and third-party APIs to build practical product features.

Frontend & Product Engineering

• Build and maintain product interfaces using React and Next.js.

• Develop dashboards and operational interfaces.

• Implement appropriate loading, validation, error, and empty states.

• Connect UI components with backend services and APIs.

• Translate product requirements and designs into functional interfaces.

• Work across frontend and backend when features require end-to-end implementation.

Testing & Production Quality

• Write basic unit, integration, and API-level tests where required.

• Debug issues and identify the root cause of application problems.

• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards.

• Use logs and debugging tools to investigate application issues.

• Learn how production systems are monitored, deployed, and maintained.

• Help identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience.

Engineering Practices

• Write clean, readable, reusable, and maintainable code.

• Follow established project architecture and coding conventions.

• Use Git/GitHub effectively for version control and collaboration.

• Participate in code reviews and team discussions.

• Maintain technical documentation when required.

• Work closely with developers, product team members, and other stakeholders.

• Convert product requirements into practical technical solutions.

• Take ownership of assigned tasks from understanding the requirement through implementation, testing, and delivery.

What We're Looking For

Required

• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Knowledge of React.js or Next.js.

• Basic understanding of Node.js, Express.js, or another backend framework.

• Understanding of REST APIs and frontend-backend communication.

• Basic understanding of databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

• Familiarity with Git and GitHub.

• Good problem-solving and debugging skills.

• Basic understanding of Generative AI and LLMs.

• Hands-on experience experimenting with at least one LLM API, such as OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or similar.

• Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence and modern software development.

• Experience building or experimenting with at least one personal, college, or AI-powered project.

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with Next.js and TypeScript.

• Experience with Node.js / Express.js / NestJS.

• Experience with MongoDB or PostgreSQL.

• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

• Experience with Tailwind CSS.
